In-Person Updates

Badge  IN-PERSON LEARNER UPDATES

ATTENDANCE

  • Please note, if your student will not be attending his or her in-person day of learning - for any reason -  you must call the school attendance line (309-557-4455) to report the absence!
    • Example:  Chris is a Tuesday and Friday in-person learner.  He will not be attending school on Tuesday.  His guardian needs to call the school to report Chris will not be attending school at Evans on that day.
  • What if your student will not be attending his or her in-person day at school, but he or she will be attending classes that same day virtually?   You still need to call the school attendance line (309-557-4455) to report the absence!  We have specific attendance codes for these types of situations.
    • Example:  Chris is a Tuesday and Friday in-person learner.  He will not be attending school on Tuesday.  However, he will be virtually joining any live classes on Tuesday.  His guardian needs to call the school to report Chris will not be attending school at Evans on that day, but Chris will be joining live classes on that day.
  • Failure to report your in-person learner as not attending school in-person - for any reason - will result in your student being marked "Absent!"

STUDENT IDs

Please remind your student to wear his or her ID, as they are critical in the following areas of the school day:

  • Lunch: Beginning Tuesday, January 19th, junior high students will have the ability to purchase 2nd meals, additional milk cartons, and a limited selection of ala carte items.
    • However, student IDs are necessary to purchase the above options, and students must have a positive balance in their food service account to purchase the above options!
    • If your student has lost his or her ID - or if they need a school ID - please have them reach out to Mrs. Tracey (traceyse@unit5.org), as we can print new IDs at Evans.
  • Bus The scanning of student IDs on and off of our buses is an extremely important step in ensuring who rides our buses!
    • This information is critical when we conduct contact tracing!   Your student must scan his or her ID whenever they ride the bus!
    • If your student has lost his or her ID - or if they need a school ID - please have them reach out to Mrs. Tracey (traceyse@unit5.org), as we can print new IDs at Evans.

SOCIAL DISTANCING & SAFETY PROTOCOLS

We have taken great lengths to provide a safe environment for our students, as evidence in our "Return to the Nest"  online resource .  However, it will continue to take  all of us to keep one another healthy, as well as prevent your student from being a "close contact" in the event of a positive COVID case in our school!

Please remind your student of the following basic protocols:

  • Stay distanced in the lunchroom .  We have markers on our seats to help students know where to sit.  Since this is a time when masks are removed, it is imperative our students provide a safe distance between one another!   More information about our lunches can be found  here .
  • Cover both your nose and mouth with your mask.   More information about mask wearing can be found  here .
  • Keep hands clean...and to yourself.   Whether during our passing periods or in the classroom, keeping a safe distance from one another is a great way to prevent oneself from spreading germs, as well as becoming a "close contact."
