Monday, March 18th
Attention all students, if you are leaving for an appointment please do not scan out. You must sign out at the greeters station. Not signing out causes your attendance to be recorded incorrectly.

This week, Student Council is sponsoring Dude be Nice spirit week. Today is Green out day for mental health awareness. Tuesday is Country vs. Country Club. Wednesday is Pink-out day for Women’s history month. Thursday is Beach day and Friday is ugly T-shirt day.
1, 2, 3, 4 we declare a coin war. Our Best Buddies Chapter is collecting donations for the Best Buddies Friendship Walk. Donate today in the main office.
Easter is on its way, along with its many festivities! Join German Club in celebrating with a German easter custom of painting and hanging up real, hollowed-out chicken eggs this Tuesday, March 19th in room 200 after school! Please join Spanish Club and Hispanic Heritage Clubs as we show off our dancing skills while we learn some traditional Spanish dances! We will meet this Wednesday, March 20th, in the main cafeteria from 3:30-4:30 and learn dances like the salsa and merengue! There may also be an opportunity to earn a gift card or two! This week’s senior of the week is Bradley Ross Jackson. Bradley’s favorite school lunch is chicken and rice he brings from home, favorite teachers are Mr. Thomas and Ms. Baker, favorite TV show is Bel-Air and Movie Black Panther. Bradley plans to pursue his goal of becoming a professor, attorney, or a television news broadcaster. Something you may not have known about Bradley is that he and his family won Family Feud in January 2024

Juniors: The Class of 2025 College Fair is tomorrow, March 12. Students' last names A through K will be called down 2nd hour. Students' last names L-Z will be called down 3rd hour. Other interested students may attend 4th hour until 11:30, if needed.
Mu Alpha Theta is a high school math honorary for Juniors and Seniors that have an A average in their math classes. If you qualify and are interested in applying, you can scan the QR Code on all math classroom doors to apply. You must apply by this Wednesday, March 13th. If you qualify, there will be a $10 national membership fee. If you are currently a member you do not need to fill out an application again! See Mrs. Feeney if you have questions.

Feminism club is sponsoring a self defense seminar this Thursday, March 14, after school in the dance fitness room. It will be led by Mr. Watts and Mr. Roller, both of whom have martial arts training. Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for working out. All are welcome including staff!
The Specialized Services classroom will be selling Candy Grams during lunch this Thursday, March 14th. Candy Grams will be $1.00 each and will be delivered to the recipient's 8th hour class on March 15th.
NCHS Experimental Ensemble will be performing this Friday at 7PM at Illinois Art Station in Normal. We would love to see you all there. Admission is a suggested donation of $10, but no one will be turned away. The performance is a celebration of their new CD, which you can purchase now or listen to on any of the online platforms. Technology Student Association is hosting a Q&A panel with Professor Bayram, an electrical engineering professor from the University of Illinois @ Urbana-Champaign. It will be from 3:30-5:00 in room 66 this Wednesday, February 28th. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in STEM, electrical engineering, research, or U of I! We hope to see you there!

Attention Ironmen Boys Basketball Fans: Support the Varsity Boys’ Basketball team when it plays for the Regional Championship Friday night at 7:00 pm versus Rock Island in the NCHS East Gym. Tickets are $6.00 per person and all fans must pay for admission - no Student Activity Passes or Unit 5 Family passes will be accepted since this is an IHSA playoff game. Tickets can be purchased for $6.00 cash at the door or for $6.00 digitally through the GoFan app. Cheer on the Ironmen as they attempt to advance to the Class 4A Sectional next week. Let’s Go Iron!

Attention students! Please join Spanish Club this Wednesday, February 7th, in Room 25 after school as we collaborate with Culture Cooking Club to make homemade churros and Mexican hot chocolate! The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be hosting a game night this Thursday, February 8th, immediately after the conclusion of the girls basketball game versus Danville. The game night will take place in the west gymnasium after the game. The game night will feature games such as pickleball, bags, ping pong and more. We'll also have food as well. Everyone is welcome to attend!

The After-School Forge will start up again tomorrow, Tuesday, January 30, from 3:45-5:00 in room 4. Come find a place to study and make up assessments with help from peer tutors and teachers. The After-School Forge will then be open most Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for the rest of the semester. There is also a bus that can take you home at 5:15. Take advantage of this great resource!

Starting this week, Music Tech club is beginning work on our first release of the year. This release will focus on how sampling can be used in the creation of a song. If you are interested in learning how to do some basic sampling, recording, or even just contributing to the project, show up to room 30 Thursday from 3:35 - 5 PM or reach out to Mr. Wiechman.

Seniors: This Thursday Night we will be hosting a FAFSA Completion Workshop for those students and families who need assistance with filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The workshop will run from 6:30-8:00 PM in the cafeteria. Please bring your laptops and social security numbers. Help in both Spanish and English languages will be provided.

Registration for boys and girls track & field is now open online.
Student athletes must be registered and have a current physical on file in the athletic office before they will be allowed to participate in practice.
Boys practice will begin today at 3:45 in Room 15. Please see Coach Thomas if needed.
Attention boys who plan to try out for baseball this spring. We will have two informational meetings this week to discuss off season activities and give tryout information. We will meet today at 3:40 in the Senior Cafeteria and tomorrow morning at 7:50 in the IMC. You only need to attend one meeting. Please see Coach Short in the Counseling office if you cannot attend either meeting.
