BIRTHDAY TREAT POLICY
With the ever growing issue of food allergies and the expanding variety that exist within our Towanda student population, we have decided to do away with the traditional birthday treat day for student birthdays.
After lengthy discussions with the staff and our school nurse, we reached a consensus on eliminating this tradition. Towanda will continue to highlight this important event in each child’s life though a variety of means.
The principal will make a birthday announcement and pencils or some other little item will be given to each child and classroom recognition will take place.
Everyone at Towanda recognizes the importance of student birthdays and will do our best to make it a special day. We are confident we can do this without the presence of sweet treats.
We will allow treats at holiday parties, as we can work closely with our room parents to ensure that safe treats are provided on these three limited events.
Thanks in advance for your support of this difficult decision.
