Much has been written about Martin Luther King Jr. and sometimes it can be hard to know where to start if you want to learn more about his vital work and civil rights activism. That's where your school library can help! Check out this resource list full of books to help you learn more about Martin Luther King Jr. and how his words, ideas, and works have shaped our nation. All books are available for you to check out in the IMC!
The Normal West Black Student Union will meet virtually on Thursday January 21 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. They will discuss how teens can take initiative and become leaders. Everyone is welcome to join. Please email Jasmyn Jordan at firstname.lastname@example.org for the Zoom Link.
Normal West Girls Soccer will be hosting a Dine to Donate at Chipotle on Monday, January 25th from 5 - 9 pm. Please show the flyer to the cashier.
Anyone interested in trying out for softball in the spring needs to attend an informational meeting regarding contact days. The meeting will be held virtually on Google Meet on Wed Jan 20 from 1:45-2:15PM. The link will be posted on our Google Classroom for softball (class join code is 7fhryhj). Are you in a reading slump or need a little inspiration for your next great read? Explore some amazing books in January's book browsing presentation "Hot Reads for Cold Nights". All featured books are available for check out in the IMC!
Unit 5 Esports is having tryouts for the Fortnite Team THIS Friday the 22nd at 4:00pm. This year's Fortnite format will be "duo" and the Q&A can be viewed here. Don't pass on this opportunity to be part of a team, build 21st Century Skills, and possibly earn an athletic scholarship to a major university/college. Email Coach R. The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is an official day of service and celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy.
★Please join the Normal West Black Student Union in writing cards/letters of encouragement to hospitalized youth.
★ Anyone in the Bloomington-Normal community is welcome to write as many cards/letters as they would like to. Feel free to decorate your card/letter.
★ Please only include your first name if you decide to sign your letter
★Jasmyn Jordan will collect the cards/letters at her house and they will be delivered to a Children’s Hospital on February 8. DM her @heyyits_jj or email her at email@example.com when you want to drop off your cards/letters.
If you have textbooks or English novels from first semester that you are no longer using, please return them to the IMC. If you are fully remote, you can return books to the book drop that's located inside the vestibule entrance. The door is open from 7 am - 9 pm.
The Computer Science Clubs (Girls Who Code, Cyber Club and Cyberpatriot) will meet on Tuesday, Jan 19th from 3:30-4:30 pm in Room 203 or on Google Meet (https://meet.google.com/lookup/buotizryj5). The rest of the meeting dates will be: 1/25, 2/1, 2/9, 2/22, 3/2, 3/8, 3/16, 3/29.
