• HUDSON PTO

    Make a difference:

The PTO services the school, students, and families in many ways.  The PTO strives to communicate effectively with parents during the school year in order to keep our connections strong.  The PTO offers various volunteer opportunities that align with the mission of our organization, and we are successful because of people like YOU, who volunteer your time and talents to carry out the fun events for the students that we hold each school year.  Volunteering with the PTO is a wonderful way to connect to other parents in our school, learn about important events, and benefit your student!

    Our Mission:

    • To develop closer connections between school and home by encouraging parent involvement
    • To enhance the educational experience by supporting academic and enrichment activities
    • To improve the environment at the school by providing volunteers and financial support

    How to get connected:

    • Like us on Facebook – “Hudson Elementary School PTO”
    • Read Mr. Myers’ monthly newsletter on the school website – www.unit5.org/hudson
    • Be sure the office has your email address so you can receive communications
    • Check out the Hudson calendar of events on the school website
    • Look for bright orange printed PTO communications in your child’s backpack
    • Volunteer using Sign-Up Genius
    • Check the website for PTO meeting minutes & contact information

    Get involved:

Attend PTO meetings held the 1st Tuesday of each month.  Meetings are from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Hudson Elementary School and childcare is provided free of cost to you.  We would LOVE for you to join us!

PTO uses Sign-Up Genius to request volunteers for each committee, donation, and event.  Sign-Up Genius is a web-based tool. Sign up links are emailed as opportunities become available.  Be on the lookout throughout the year for these emails. The first opportunities will be for your child’s classroom parties.

    Volunteer Opportunities and Events

    Room Parents

Each classroom needs room parents to plan parties (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day), create a carnival basket, and show their teacher how appreciated they truly are!  Even if you are not a room parent, there are many volunteer opportunities you will have to assist the room parents.

    Hospitality

Showing appreciation for our teachers at Hudson Elementary is the main objective of PTO Hospitality.  With the primary focus on staff, this committee provides birthday gift cards, treats/gifts during appreciation week, and much more.  Volunteers may be requested to make/donate food to assist with set-up/clean-up.

    Friendship Garden

The PTO is proud of our school inside and out.  The Friendship Garden committee is focused on maintaining the outside of our school.  This includes landscape, basketball hoops, benches, etc. The PTO used money raised to purchase picnic tables for the Friendship Garden.  Volunteers may be asked to donate items such as plants or donate time to maintain the outside of our school.

    Box Tops

The school has earned over $6,000 from Box Top donations in the past few years!  Box tops can be cut off of boxes, collected, and brought into the school by your child. But new this year, the Box Top program has an electronic method of collecting.  There is a Box Top mobile app that allows you to scan your grocery receipts and automatically collect the Box Tops for your school. Please download this app and help us raise money for our school!

Ice Cream Social & Book Fair

The book fair is sponsored by the IMC, however, the PTO supports the library fundraiser by providing the ice cream treats & an opportunity for families to visit.  In the past, the PTO has been able to donate money to each teacher to spend on books! Volunteers may be requested to donate treats, serve refreshments, and set-up/clean-up.

    Monster Mash Dance

Calling all cats, ghosts, super heroes, and other characters… Get dressed up in your Halloween costume and come do the Monster Mash at our fall dance.  Treats and fun accessories will be available for purchase.

    Holiday BINGO Night

Come to the school for a night of BINGO!  This will be a laid-back event where we can gather during the holidays to have fun together.

    Shake Your Shamrock Dance

Make sure to wear green!  Come enjoy a DJ, glow bracelets, snacks and lots of fun at Shake Your Shamrock!  Admission, treats, and goodies sales are a large fundraiser for our school. Come out and watch the kids dance the night away!!  This is such a fun event!

    School Carnival

This is by far our school’s largest PTO fundraiser!

A night filled with carnival games, silent auction, raffle, and dinner.  Volunteers may be asked to chair a planning committee, help with decorations, donate items such as cookies/cakes for the cake walk, or set-up/clean-up.  Planning for our carnival will begin in the fall, and many volunteers are needed for this event to be successful.

    Trivia Night (Adults Only)

Back again this year is an adult’s night out!  Tables of 8 will play several rounds of trivia while enjoying appetizers, dessert, and drinks at an offsite location.  Prizes are given for the winning table.
