Dr. Mark Daniel is the 12th Superintendent of McLean County Unit 5. An educator for 29 years, Dr. Daniel was previously Superintendent of Dowagiac Union Schools in southwest Michigan. Prior to that, he was principal at Leo Jr/Sr High School in Indiana for 12 years. He also spent three years as Assistant Principal at the high-achieving, nationally-recognized school. Dr. Daniel also taught math and business for many years, in addition to coaching football, basketball, baseball, track and golf. Born in Springfield, IL, Dr. Daniel grew up in Indiana. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo and his master’s degree from Indiana University. He received his doctorate from Indiana State University in Educational Administration. Dr. Daniel is married to Janet Daniel and they have four grown daughters. A sports enthusiast, he enjoys golf, tennis, biking, basketball and watching football.
