• PBIS Overview

Posted by RACHEL ENOMOTO on 8/26/2015

    Dear Cedar Ridge Rocket Family,

We would like to provide you with an overview of PBIS – Positive Behavior Interventions & Support – and what it looks like in our building. We hope that this will be an “at-a-glance” resource to familiarize you with the behavior expectations at Cedar Ridge Elementary.

The premise of PBIS is to create a safe, effective, and positive learning environment for every student, and to do so by explicitly teaching behavioral expectations. PBIS creates teaching and learning environments that are…

    • Less reactive and harmful
    • More proactive, preventive, and productive
    • Address classroom management and disciplinary issues
    • Improve supports for students whose behaviors require more specialized assistance
    • Maximize academic engagement and achievement for all students

PBIS is divided into three tiers. Tier 1 is the universal tier with behavioral expectations and interventions that are provided to all students. Tier 2 includes targeted interventions for students who are struggling to follow the behavior expectations independently and need additional support and attention in order to do so. Tier 3 represents a small group of students who will need intensive interventions and a specific individualized plan in order to be successful in following the school expectations.

Thank you for your support of the PBIS program at Cedar Ridge Elementary!
