I am Cedar Ridge's General Music teacher, Michelle Hardwick. I went to college at Illinois State University, getting my bachelor's degree in music education in 1983 and later getting a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. While working on my bachelor's degree I taught piano and organ lessons privately for Byerly Music and later for Music! Music! I am ceritfied to teach music at all grade levels K-12 and general classroom at the elementary level. I began my teaching career in the Blue Ridge School system, working there half-time for 2 years. I started with Unit 5 in 1994 at Brigham Elementary, moving to Cedar Ridge when it opened in 2010. I have also taught at Chiddix Junior High as well as Carlock, Parkside and Towanda Elementary Schools during various school years while staying at Brigham/Cedar as my home base building. Before I was actively teaching, I worked at Bloomington/Champion Federal and First Federal Savings and Loan, as well as giving private piano and organ and voice lessons.I live in LeRoy with my 2 sons, Derek and Bobby. Derek is a recent graduate of the Art Institute in Schaumburg where he studied animation. Bobby is a 6th grader at LeRoy Elementary School. I also have an adult daughter who is an RN and 2 granddaughters. I am a member of the LeRoy Christian Church where I am on a worship team and act as soloist and accompanist. I teach every summer during VBS, and have been a Sunday School and JAM teacher as well.
At Cedar Ridge I have acted as building representative for UFEA for many years. I was on the building leadership team at Brigham and I am a current member of the PBIS committee at Cedar. two past years I also taught some sections of 5th grade band. All of the classes at Cedar Ridge receive music instruction for 25 minutes twice a week except for Kindergarten, which has music three times a week.
