Free & Reduced Meal Application

Unit 5 participates in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs which require that schools offer free or reduced-price meals to eligible children. All students may participate in the meal programs but must meet certain criteria to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Reduced price lunches are $0.40. Reduced-price breakfasts are $0.30.

Eligibility for free and reduced-price meals is determined based upon several factors. Children in households receiving benefits from SNAP or TANF as well as those who are foster children are eligible for free meals regardless of household income. Children who are homeless, runaway, or migrant also qualify for free meals.

Children may also qualify for free or reduced-priced meals based on household income which takes into consideration the number of people living in the household and all forms of income. Families with incomes at or below 130 percent of the poverty level are eligible for free meals. Those with incomes between 130 percent and 185 percent of the poverty level are eligible for reduced-price meals. More information about Income and Eligibility Guidelines can be found in the application link below .

If you believe your household would qualify for free or reduced-price meals, please submit an application for meal benefits whether your student(s) is/are opting for in-person or online learning.
  • A meal application must be completed each school year to apply for free and reduced meal benefits.
  • Complete one application per household.
  • Include all people living in your household on the application.

The 2024-2025 Meal Benefit Application can be accessed electronically on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal in mid-July.  This link will assist you in completing the application: Meal Benefit Application Parent Portal Guide.

Please do not complete an application if your household was notified they will receive free meals for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

The information you provide will be used to determine or prove your student's eligibility for free or reduced-priced meals. This information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits. These benefits will apply for the duration of the school year. You may submit an application more than one time per year if your circumstances change.

You will be notified by mail of your student's meal status after the application is reviewed. If you electronically submit an application, you will also receive notification in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal Message Center Inbox.

You may apply using the paper application, if you prefer. The application can be downloaded directly by clicking on the preferred language: English, Español or Français. You may also pick up a paper application at your student's school office.
