Junior High Curriculum

Math
Mathematics is a foundation for success in school, careers, and everyday life. Building a solid mathematical foundation is essential—it supports future learning and equips students to tackle more advanced mathematical concepts in future courses. Our wide array of math course offerings is designed to strengthen problem-solving skills, build confidence, challenge students to think critically, work collaboratively, and see the real-world connections of math.
We are excited to help each student grow as a confident mathematical thinker and establish a strong foundation for success in school and beyond!
Health
The State of Illinois requires 18 weeks of Health during 6-8 grades. Each student will have 6 weeks of Health during 6th 7th & 8th grade. Students will rotate out of their PE classes for 6 weeks, then return to PE when the 6 weeks of Health is completed.
Advisory
Advisory aims to nurture the whole student and operates on the premise that a junior high student in Unit 5 is more likely to succeed with a strong network of support and committed adult advocates within the school. Junior High Advisory uses several different resources for Advisory.
Unit 5 curriculum also includes prevention-oriented child sexual abuse education administered with the help of YWCA of McLean County as part of Erin's Law. Learn more at their website.
