Meet the Superintendent

SUPERINTENDENT KRISTEN WEIKLE

Dr. Weikle has been an educator for 28 years and is the 13th superintendent of Unit 5 Schools. She previously served as the Superintendent at Warrensburg-Latham CUSD 11, and as the Director of Special Education for the Special Education Association of Adams County. She also was a Principal in Quincy Public Schools, and an adjunct professor at John Wood Community College in Quincy. 

Originally from a farm outside of Quincy, IL, where her parents still reside, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Education - Curriculum & Instruction, from Quincy University. She received her doctorate from Western Illinois University in Educational Leadership. Dr. Weikle was recognized as a “20 Under 40” by both the Decatur Herald and Review and the Quincy Herald Whig. 

Married to her husband Skip, they have six adult children.  They are proud grandparents of two granddaughters. Dr. Weikle enjoys exercising and going to sporting events, concerts and plays. Her passion is reading, especially mysteries and inspirational stories.  She almost always is reading a book for pleasure, as well as a book to help grow professionally.

Unit 5 is an outstanding district and I am confident that we can build upon the incredible work already in place. I value clear, honest and ongoing communication and believe this is essential to moving the district forward to truly have ALL students achieve their personal excellence," Dr. Weikle said.
