The required course examines US History in thematic units with a 20th century focus.
Semester 1 students must take and pass a US Constitution test. Students will also study the Illinois Consitution test.
A bill of rights unit in semester one allows students to study precedent Supreme Court cases and then examine contemporary issues which connect to these same rights. The final unit of study in semester one is social change, examing groups which historically have been denied these rights.
Semester two students study the themes of Movement in the United States.
Immigration to the United States.
