  • Our First Day of Pre-K!

    We had an amazing first day in Early Learning at Sugar Creek!

    Every single one of them had an AWESOME day!  Check backpacks for our daily schedule that got sent home today!  It will give you a rough idea of our daily plan.  We will also have library check out every Wednesday for the last 15 minutes of the day.  We are having a blast getting to know each other!  Thank you to all of you for trusting in us for the early years of your child's education!  Also, another thank you to those of you that were able to make our open house a success!  What a great turn out!  Please let me know if there is anything I can do!  You can contact me by e-mail auskingsen@unit5.org or by phone.  Sugar Creek's Number is:309-557-4425.

  • Chick it Out!

    Through the wonderful "Ag in the Classroom" Program, we have the pleasure of hatching eggs!   
    After many guesses and thoughts of possibilities- we finally let it out that we are expecting baby chicks!  Today, as of 6:30ish PM, will be the 21st day.  We were a little optimistic in hopes they would hatch already but no such luck!  You can view our incubator live at :

    Forgot to post the update over break!  The beans didn't grow as quickly as expected so it was perfect the kiddos were on break!  When I went in last Wednesday, there was a variety of this:

    Apparently, they just needed to make it out of the dirt to take off because now we have all kinds of 6 inch bean plants!!
    I'll take a new picture to post tomorrow....no worries though, they will be coming to a garden or pot at your house soon!! ;)
     
    Look forward to a post about the new things we have in class to nurture...don't worry though....they won't be coming to your home! You can thank me later!

  • Plant a seed!

    The kids had a blast yesterday when we started planting our bean seeds.  We learned that they grow fast so watch for a post during spring break to see how they are doing!  We've been reading books and acting out what a seed needs to grow and the parts of a plant.  We went to the garden on Tuesday to see if we could find any shoots, stems, buds, leaves, or blooms.  Unfortunately this "spring" weather has only given us shoots, a few stems and a couple buds.  The kids are excited to go back out to the garden when we get back from spring break to see what is popping up!

  • Kindergarten Registration

    Ifyour child will be 5 on or before September 1, 2013:  Here is your reminder for kindergartenregistration!!

     

    Registrationis tomorrow, March 19th!!

     

     Please bring your child with you so that the kindergartenteachers may conduct a skill survey with them while you attend theinformational portion and fill out your paperwork!

    If you are going to a session that does notallow them to attend Pre-K tomorrow, please let myself and transportation know.

     

    If your home school is Sugar Creek and/or you are in the CPC:

    Time: 9:30 and 1:30 at SugarCreek, you only need to attend one session

    Please bring: Certified copy ofthe birth certificate, proof of residence, physical and immunizations, visionand dental (if completed) with you.
