Hello! My name is Mrs. Gerike and I am excited to be working with all of you this year! Here is a little bit about myself.

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. In high school I played volleyball and badminton. In 2000 my doubles partner and I won state! After high school I moved down to Normal to attend Illinois State University. I met my husband in 2003 and we were married in 2009.

We have two daughters that are 7 and 5 and a son that is 1 and 1/2.  My 7 year old will be in 1st grade at Benjamin and my 5 year old is starting kindergarten at Benjamin and they are both so excited to be at school with me.  We had so much fun going to the zoo, the library, and to the pool this summer.  In my spare time I love watching sports, especially the ISU Redbirds and the Cubbies, reading, and playing with my kids.

I began teaching 2nd grade at Oakdale in 2007. Then, I moved to Pepper Ridge and continued to teach 2nd grade for 2 years. This is my 10th year here at Benjamin.  I spent 6 years as a 2nd grade teacher, one year as a 1st grade teacher, 2 years being a 3rd grade teacher, and now I'm back in 2nd.  I love being a Benjamin Bear and I am excited to be teaching 2nd grade again!

In May 2012 I received a master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Illinois State University. I enjoy sharing with my students the excitement in being a lifelong learner.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year together here at Benjamin!
