A parent reminder that we do not celebrate birthdays with food items here at school. Please do not send birthday treats with your child to pass out. This is a district-wide policy. A non-food item is allowed. Thank you for your cooperation.

Congratulations to Mrs.Smith's third grade class who won last month's BOX TOP collection. Yes, we are still collecting Box Tops here at Hudson so please keep saving them at home and bringing them in to your child's teacher. Thanks so much!

Collecting box tops is an easy way for Hudson School to earn money.

Our box top goal for the 2016-2017 school year is $2,000.

As a staff, we have chosen a focus on manners and respect as part of our school improvement plan for this school year. Mr. Myers will be using lessons from Manners of the Heart curriculum each week during morning assemblies. Manners of the Heart was founded to help students become respectful children who grow up to become respectful adults. We will post our themes on this school website with some suggestions on how you can reinforce those themes at home.

This Week's Theme: Respect on the Bus (Mr. Myers talked to the students about following expectations on the school bus and how to show respect to the driver and other riders).

Here are some of the expectations all students should follow while riding the bus to and from school or on field trips:

    * Students should quickly sit immediately after entering the bus so the bus may leave on time.

    * Students should not stand in the entrance or in the aisle.

    * Loud conversation, boisterous conduct and unnecessary noise is not allowed.

    * Good behavior and behavior that will not distract the bus driver from operating the bus safely is required.

    * Keep the bus neat and clean.

    * Keep book bags, books, packages, coats and other objects out of the aisles.

    * Eating and drinking is not permitted on the bus.

    * Never walk behind the bus.

    * No talking when the bus comes to a railroad crossing, so the driver can hear any approaching trains.

    * Do not talk to the driver unless it is an emergency.

Please review the bus rules with your child, as field trips are scheduled for this Spring, and all students will be riding a bus at some point. All school rules apply while on the bus, at a bus stop, or waiting for the bus.

Thank you for your partnership in achieving our common goal of developing good manners in your child.

    Important information regarding student drop-off/pick-up

All Hudson families should note our drop off and pick up procedures this year. In the morning all students (except La Petite and bus students)  need to enter the main doors off of our parking lot.

Students may enter the building beginning at 7:10 a.m. with teacher supervision beginning at 7:20 a.m. Students are to wait in our main hallway outside the office until the 7:30 a.m. bell and then proceed to the gym until morning announcements are given at 7:40 a.m.

The school day officially begins at 7:45 a.m. so students arriving after that time will be considered tardy and will need to be signed in at the office by a responsible adult. At the end of the day, a dismissal bell will ring at 2:30 p.m. Students will be dismissed out of the following doors: All bus riders exit the west door onto the bus lane. All walkers and bike riders exit the east door off of McLean Street. This is where parents should pick up students if they are not using the car lane.

All students being picked up by cars in our car lane will exit the main south doors. They wait inside the school and will be called out to their pick-up car by a staff member. If you are picking up students by car, you should make sure you display your car tag on your inside mirror so that our staff can correctly call students to the pick-up lane. Car tags are available at our school office. It is very important that you communicate any change of pick-up to your child, your child's teacher, and the school office.
