• NCWHS Announcements – Tuesday, October 11, 2022

     

    Scholastic Bowl practice begins after school Wednesday, October 12th in room 214 (Mrs. Kelley's).  We meet every Wednesday and practice until 4:30. Meets and tournaments are scheduled throughout the year.  We are always looking for new players, so if you like trivia, come check it out.  If you have questions go see or email Mrs. Kelley (kelleypm@unit5.org) or Mr. Wilson (wilsondw@unit5.org).

     

    Looking for some killer thrillers? Stop by your IMC and check out ALL the SPOOK-tacular books to get you in the Halloween spirit!

     

    Book club will meet this Friday, October 14th at 7:45 am in the IMC. October reads will be distributed. Breakfast provided. Still interested in joining book club? It's never too late!

     

    All Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors interested in trying out for the 2023 Normal West Baseball teams, there will be a Mandatory Informational Meeting in the Cafeteria on Monday, October 24th from 3:30-4:15. Be sure to bring a writing utensil and let your fall and winter sport coaches know in advance. We will discuss signups, tryout info, intramural info, and Q&A. Any questions, see Coach Beaty in the math office.

     

    The Normal West Mock Trial team will be hosting a clinic for anyone who is interested in participating this year and new to the program. For more information, please see Dr. Bierbaum in Room 110.

     

    Do you enjoy seeing live theatrical productions? Are you obsessed with all things theater? Are you looking for a safe place to build a family of theater people? If so, you’re in luck! Drama club starts this week! We will have our first meeting on Thursday, October 13, from 3:40-4:40 in Room 111. Stop by if you’re interested in all things theater! We will be discussing future audition opportunities, as well as local live productions! If you have any questions, see Mr. Kerr in Rm 111. 

     

    NIOS and the Promise Council will meet this Wednesday after school in Mrs. Hamler's room 112 from 3:30-4:30.

     

    Attention sophomores! It’s that time of year. The sophomore parking lottery! If you are a sophomore and interested in obtaining a parking pass, please stop by the main office and give your name to Mrs. Bach at the front desk. To be eligible for the lottery, you MUST have a current driver’s license. If you are selected for a spot, you will be notified via email, so please make sure to be checking your Unit 5 email. Students who are selected for a spot MUST BRING THEIR MONEY WITHIN 1 week of receiving the email, or your spot may be forfeited. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bach or Ms. Taylor.

     

    The Normal West High School Yard Signs Web Store just launched! We are offering Class of 2023 and generic Normal West Wildcat signs this year. The store is only open for a limited time. You must order by Sunday, October 16th The signs will be shipped directly to Normal West High School and you will receive pick up information 7-10 days after the store closes (expect an email the week of October 24th).

    Reminders about Student IDs: You will need your student ID for lots of things to help with your experience at Normal West.  Please have your IDs when going to the guidance office, Nurse's office and getting on and off the buses for school and for athletic or extracurricular trips.  Also, remember you can take a picture of your ID and keep it on your phone to use in our lunch lines for the cafe workers to scan for purchases.  If you don't have an ID or are missing a picture on your ID, please stop by the IMC to have another ID made for you. Thanks for helping with this as it makes things run more smoothly at Normal West!

     

    An additional tryout will be held for the Normal West Dance Team. The tryout for the competitive dance team will be Oct. 24 from 4-7. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact:  Coach Weakly    weaklys@unit5.org
