Carlock Elementary School Read-a-thon!
-
Here at Carlock Elementary School we have been working on updating both the space and the books in the IMC to make it a warm and welcoming environment for everyone. Our goal is to make the IMC as user-friendly as possible, as well as getting books and materials that the students want to read and will help support the curriculum that is being taught in the classroom. One of the main areas in the IMC that still needs updating is the nonfiction section. Students love to read nonfiction, but the way the nonfiction section is arranged and the books we have need an overhaul. Our goal with the Read-a-thon is to help bring this section back to life!
Our school Read-A-Thon begins on Monday November 13, 2023 and is sure to be a fun and exciting event.
We understand that your time is valuable. We also know that providing the best education for your child is important. That's why we are encouraging everyone to activate their student's Read-A-Thon account as soon as possible. The instructions are straightforward, making it quick and hassle-free, and it should take less than 5 minutes of your time.
This account will serve as a hub for recording and monitoring your child's progress as a Reader in the event, and for you to share their Read-A-Thon message with friends and family. Use the link below to activate your student's Reader account:

VOLUNTEERS
Unit 5 welcomes volunteers to fill available opportunities in our schools. During the pandemic, the state implemented additional steps for school volunteers and Unit 5 adhered to those requirements.
Effective immediately, Unit 5 will no longer require that volunteers have a COVID vaccine. School volunteers will still need to complete an annual background check to be cleared to help in our buildings.
As always, it is up to individual teachers and school administrators to put forth volunteer opportunities, as needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your child’s school for information on how to sign up.
