    Go Cubs!
  • Dear Families,

I wanted to take this time to introduce myself as your child’s 5th-grade teacher.  I am honored to have the privilege of working with you and your child this school year.  This is my 19th year teaching in Unit 5 and I am very excited to teach at Sugar Creek this year!  I have had the opportunity to teach at several age levels from 2nd Grade to 7th Grade at Colene Hoose, Chiddix Junior High, Evans Junior High, and Sugar Creek. This will be my second year at Sugar Creek teaching 5th Grade.

Before teaching, my prior experiences included attending Eastern Illinois University (majoring in business) and Illinois State where I completed my second degree in education.  In between my two degrees, I worked for State Farm Insurance. After three years at State Farm, decided to go back to school to become a teacher. It was clearly the right career choice for me. I truly love working with kids and am eager for the upcoming school year.  I am delighted to have the opportunity to teach your child.

I have a wife of 23 years, Rachel who was also born and raised in Bloomington-Normal.  I am the proud father of two boys, James (18) and Ryan (15).  James is attending Millikin University and Ryan is at Normal Community.  Those three keep me very busy as well as doing some coaching of tennis during the spring at Normal Community.   I share a great deal about my family during the school year so your children will hear many funny and entertaining stories about the Broach household.

I look forward to working with you and your child to make this a positive and productive school year for all.  I also plan on reaching out at the beginning of the year by phone or quick conference so don’t get nervous if you get a phone call home! If at any time you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to contact me.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support this upcoming school year. I know it will be a great experience for us all!

    Sincerely,

    Jim Broach
