Week of March 9th
Interested in working on the Tech Crew for the spring musical Newsies? We need students to help with costumes, backstage, lights and sound. Meeting for those interested on Monday, March 16 from 3:45 to 4:30 pm in room 128. See Mrs. Shaw if you are interested but can’t attend the meeting.
The Annual Normal West Jazz Night is Friday, March 13th in the Auditorium. Doors open at 5 pm with music starting at 5:30. The evening features a club atmosphere with a variety of jazz groups from throughout Unit 5. There are concessions and a silent auction. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and Seniors. Please come support these talented students and enjoy some fantastic music!
If you would like to join the fishing team, please meet after school on Wednesday, March 18th in room 210 or see Mr. Sennett for information.
The Mu Alpha Theta society will be selling a variety of 3 in. individual pies during lunch hour on Thursday 3/12 in the atrium in honor of pi day (3/14). If there are any pies remaining at the end of the day, those pies will be sold during lunch hours in the atrium on Friday, 3/13. The pies will cost $1.50 each, unless you can recite the first 20 digits of Pi (there will be resource help for this at the table), then the cost will be $1.00. So get memorizing!!! 3.1415926535897932384!!!
Mr. Kerr will be taking students to Illinois State University on Wednesday, April 1 to see the play 'The Wolves.' Stop by room 111 for information and a permission slip. There is only room for 15 students, so you'll have to move quickly if you're interested.
The varsity boys’ basketball team will play in the sectional semi-final game vs. Normal Community at Pekin on Tuesday, March 10, at 7:00 PM. A student fan bus will be offered for students interested in attending the game. We will need a minimum of 25 students to sign up by the end of the school day on Monday. Interested students should sign up in the main office. The cost to ride the fan bus will be $5 per student, and the fan bus would depart from the front of the school at 5:30 PM on Tuesday. Tickets can be purchased at the game for $6.
NCWHS Ultimate Frisbee (UFL) Preseason Meeting: If you are interested in playing Ultimate Frisbee this year, please send one representative from your team to attend the informational meeting on Wednesday, March 11th at 3:35 PM in room 211. This year’s rules, setup, and t-shirts will be discussed. If you have any questions, please see or email Mr. Burt (firstname.lastname@example.org)

Juniors with an overall 5.0 GPA in all their high school math classes and 4.0 overall GPA that are interested in joining the Mu Alpha Theta Math honor society can pick up an application at the Mu Alpha Theta table in the atrium during lunch this week. After the GPA's are confirmed by the registrar, you will return the application and induction fee to Mrs. Kafer in the math office by Friday 3/19. Contact Mrs. Kafer with questions.

Calling all artists! The U5 Arts Alive show will be held March 18th, 4-8pm at the Normal Public Library. This is a Jr and Sr High show for all Unit 5 students. If you have a work for submission please drop it off in the art department by March 13th. Please give it to Mr. Akyuz, Miss Geilselman or Mrs. Hinman.
