As we have done in the past, Evans is collecting Box Tops to help provide funds for the many initiatives and activities provided both in our classrooms and universally throughout the school. Examples of these activities are the "out of the blue" celebrations and raffles at lunches for gift cards, as well as materials for our "Girl's Lock-In" and summer "Eagles Expo."
Jana Plummer Burks, a parent of one of our 6th graders, is the Box Top coordinator for our PTO. She is asking all of Eagle Nation to start brining in those Box Tops to the main office to help reach our goal of $1,500! If this goal can be reached by October 27th, 10 student names will be drawn to receive gift cards to Carl's Ice Cream!
STANDARD BASED GRADING EVENT AND FAQ
As noted earlier, certain content areas have been assigning standards based scores instead of traditional letter grades this year. The majority of Eagle Nation's content areas are utilizing instructional practices and philosophies rooted in standard based instruction. In a continued attempt to share information with you around these shifts in practice, please read this FAQ which answers some of the most frequently asked questions concerning these practices and reporting processes.
If you would like to hear additional details directly from teachers about the reality of standards based grading in the classroom, please join us on October 19th, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Kingsley Junior High School for a Parent Cafe. All individuals will rotate through content specific rooms, hosted by middle school teachers, to get an invaluable perspective at some of these grading shifts.
If you are interested in attending the Parent Cafe, please complete this online form. Please note, the deadline for signing up is Friday, October 13th. Thank you!
TEACHER EASE GRADING SYSTEMTeacherEase is an online grading program that better aligns with our instructional and grading/reporting shifts. For courses in which your child is given a standards based grade, you will use TeacherEase to monitor grades/progress. Since standards based learning philosophies and theories are common in many of Eagle Nation's classes, some teachers are choosing to use TeacherEase to report all of their grades - even those that are still being reported in a traditional format - due to some of the enhanced features the program includes. How do you become part of this beneficial educational shift? More information, both about TeacherEase and these grading/reporting shifts, is available on Unit 5's website! This page is updated frequently with beneficial information. Stay invested and involved with us. Thanks!TeacherEase support can be contacted at (630) 592-4200, ext. 2.
