Thank you for your extraordinary support over the past several days, as we deal with the growing coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. As you may know, to further safeguard Illinois from the spread of the virus, Governor J.B. Pritzker has declared mandatory school closures for all buildings serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students.
That closure will be in place through the end of the school year.
Free lunch and breakfast will still be available to all students.
Comcast is offering low cost internet to families who qualify. Here is a link to information: .
We will continue to inform you as quickly as we can about any further changes to school services. Thank you for your support, understanding, and partnership.

As a result of Unit 5's transition to remote learning, the timeline for fourth grade instrument selection has been adjusted.

Later this spring, fourth grade families will receive additional information about the format of the fifth grade instrumental music program.  As a part of this program, fifth grade band and orchestra students are transported to their future junior high school for lessons on an orchestra or band instrument.  In order for Unit 5 to plan and route transportation, families will be asked to indicate their interest in May.

When we return to school in August, students will have the opportunity to attend an Instrument Exploration event as fifth graders.  These events replace the ones initially scheduled for fourth graders this April.  At that time, families will confirm their student's participation and select their student's band or orchestra instrument.

Please continue to visit for additional information.  We look forward to having your student as a part of the fifth grade orchestra or band!

Unit 5 is on Pinterest. The social media site provides a variety of resources for parents and students on wide ranging topics. Pinterest is a virtual bulletin board allowing Unit 5 to organize and share items. We create themed boards (for example, “our Schools”), collect images and content from the web, and “pin” those items on the board. So if you are a pinner, start pinning some of our items on your boards!
