UNIT 5 SUPERINTENDENT HIRED
McLean County Unit District No. 5 is pleased to announce that Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle was hired as the District’s 13th superintendent.
The Unit 5 Board approved Dr. Kendrick-Weikle during a special meeting Monday, at the District Office. The meeting was followed by a meet and greet reception for Dr. Kendrick-Weikle.
“Dr. Kendrick-Weikle will be an excellent addition to the Unit 5 Family,” said Board President Barry Hitchins. “She brings vision, passion and experience to our District that will serve our staff, students and community as we continue to educate each student to achieve personal excellence.”
Dr. Kendrick-Weikle has been an educator for 23 years and is currently the Superintendent at Warrensburg-Latham CUSD 11, which is northwest of Decatur. She previously served as the Director of Special Education for the Special Education Association of Adams County, in addition to serving as a Principal in Quincy Public Schools. She also was an adjunct professor at John Wood Community College in Quincy.
“I am excited and honored to be able to serve the Unit 5 community as the next Superintendent of Schools,” Dr. Kendrick-Weikle said. “Unit 5 is an outstanding district and I am confident that we can build upon the incredible work already in place. I value clear, honest and ongoing communication and believe this is essential to moving the district forward to truly have ALL students achieve their personal excellence. I look forward to meeting and building relationships with Unit 5 students, staff, and community members.”
Dr. Kendrick-Weikle will begin her new position July 1, replacing Dr. Mark Daniel, who has been in Unit 5 since July 2014.
NEW 9th GRADE DENTAL MANDATES
There is a new mandate for a 9th grade dental exam.• All Illinois children in kindergarten, Grade 2, Grade 6, and Grade 9 are required to have an oral health examination.• Examinations must be performed by a licensed dentist, and he/she must sign the Proof of School Dental Examination form.• Each child is required to present proof of examination by a dentist prior to May 15 of the school year.• School dental examinations must have been completed within the 18 months prior to the May 15 deadline.CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.
