Concert Expectations
As stated in the Unit 5 Elementary Handbook, "Kindergarten through 5th grade music students are expected to attend evening concerts as part of the their classroom music grade". Students who are absent from school the day of the concert will be given an alternative assessment in place of their performance grade. Students who are unexcused from the concert may have their music grade lowered at the discretion of the classroom music teacher. If a student knows he or she will be absent from the concert, for a reason other than illness, it is the responsibility of the parent / student to notify the classroom music teacher not less than one week prior to the concert date. Your cooperation is appreciated in this matter.
Concert Dress
Though there is not particular dress code for concerts, students are taught that concerts are special occasions. I do not want to exclude any children by requiring "dress" clothes for concerts. I know that not all children have "dress" clothes. It is important they look their best for a concert. Please use your best judgment in this area.
