Show and Tell Ideas

Sharing Schedule

Thursday:  All the girls have Show and Tell

Friday:  All the boys have Show and Tell

Please try to prepare your child for his/her sharing day.  There will be a theme for each week.  Sometimes it will be just a 'tell.'  I will use ideas that are practical and go with what we are studying in school.  Practice with your student what they are going to say and being loud enough for everyone to hear.

These are ideas you can use for the months of September, October and November, December, January, February, March, and April.  Show and Tell is optional in May
August :  Bring a hat to school and tell why you would wear the hat.

September :  Tell about a pet.  If you don't have a pet, tell about what kind of pet you would have and anything about it.

September : Tell about a job or responsibility you have at home.

September 17 & 18:

  • Talk about other things Jack and Rick could do by working together.  Choose one idea.  Write a sentence to share.
  • Find pictures of people working together.  Make a poster showing different jobs.

  • Beavers work together to make homes and dams.  Find out something about beavers.  Share what you learn.

September  24& 25:  Bring an item from a collection.  The story this week was about a boy who collected items on a walk in the park.  Tell about the item and why it is your favorite.

October
October 1 & 2

October

Bring a picture of an animal from a magazine, newspaper, or from the Internet.  They should be able to talk about the animal's habitat as well as describe what can be found in that specific habitat.  They will be keeping their pictures at school for another activity, so please do not send anything that needs to be returned.

October   Learn something new about dogs.  Write and tell about it on the paper provided at school

October   NO SHOW & TELL

December

December  3/4 This week will be continuing our study of life cycles by reading a story titled “I Am a Butterfly” in our language arts books that talks about the stages a butterfly goes through from the perspective of the butterfly. For show and tell this week students will have an option on what they would like to present. They can research and draw a picture of an insect, they can name and draw some of their favorite foods that come from plants, or they can create a poem about a butterfly. More detailed directions and examples for each of these was sent home with your child.

As always practice with your student before they present because they are now being graded based on the criteria that was sent home a few weeks ago. They are doing an excellent job as we continue to see their confidence build each week.

December   Choose a book and name the characters.  Some characters are more important than others in a story.  Tell about the most important characters.  I'll take care of this one at school!
