Unit 5 Writing Assessment

TOPIC:

The school administration has decided to revise the current student handbook. Student input will be considered. The administration wants each student to choose one school rule that he/she would like to see kept in the handbook or one that should be eliminated. Defend your arguments in a clear, coherent, and logical persuasive essay.

YOUR JOB:

Write a persuasive paper stating which rule you want to keep or which one you want to eliminate. Give reasons you think as you do.

YOU SHOULD

1. Take a few minutes to plan your paper by making some notes on another sheet of paper.

2. In the beginning of your paper, state which rule you plan on keeping or eliminating. Take only one position.

3. Give reasons and explain why you think as you do.

4. Organize your ideas carefully.

5. Check that you have correct sentences, punctuation, and spelling.
