Introduction
The story, The Pigman's Legacy, takes
place in New York and Atlantic City. Home of Broadway , the Empire
State Building and the Statue of Liberty and many casinos. You
will have an opportunity to get acquainted with this famous
city.
With your teacher, please review your
school's acceptable use policy for work on the Internet. Also,
links to the web often change. Tell your teacher when you find a
poor link in this guide.
The Quest
On the maps of New York City, locate the
boroughs of New York, include Staten Island and Manhattan. At the
end of the story you will trace the adventures of John, Lorraine,
The Colonel and Dolly as they travel through the story. Visit the
maps of New York and New Jersey familiarize yourself with the
cities and the road from N.Y. to Atlantic City .
The Process: Exploring the Web, Creating
a Product
You will create a map
of New York City and New
Jersey, include the boroughs of Staten Island and the Jersey
coastline. As you read the story put X's to mark any of the famous
or major places the characters visit and the route they take from
N.Y. to Atlantic City. By the end of the story you should be able
to trace the characters steps as they travel through New York and
New Jersey.
- You will need a large piece of white
paper, a ruler, and some marking pens or crayons.

- As you read the story, put an X on the places the characters

- Make sure to include the Guggenheim Museum the Staten Island
Ferry and the New Jersey coastline (to Atlantic City).
- Decide where each of the characters might live and put an X
on each of their homes, too.
- Label all the X's
