Pigman

Introduction
The story, The Pigman , takes place in
New York City. Home of Broadway , the Empire State Building and
the Statue of Liberty. You will have an opportunity to get
acquainted with this famous city.
Please understand your school's
acceptable use policy for work on the Internet. Also, links to
the web often change. Tell your teacher when you find a poor
link in this activity.
The Quest
On the maps of New York City, locate
the boroughs of New York, include Staten Island and Manhattan.
You will trace the adventures of John,
Lorraine, and The Pigman as they travel through the story. Visit
the maps of New York and familiarize yourself with the city .
The Process: Exploring the Web,
Creating a Product
With a partner, you will create a
map of New York City, include the boroughs of Staten Island
and Manhattan. Put X's to mark any of the
famous or major places the characters visit and the places they
visit in and around New York City. You
should be able to trace the characters steps as they travel
through New York.
- You will need a large piece of
white paper, a ruler, and some marking pens or crayons.
- Draw an outline of the New York
boroughs
- As you read the story, put an X on
the places the characters visit.
- Make sure to include the
Guggenheim Museum the Staten Island Ferry all relevant
places the characters go.
- Decide where each of the
characters might live and put an X on each of their homes,
too.
- Label all the X's
(They do not need to be X's if you and your partner are
more creative)
