indicating where help is needed.

Walking School Bus
It’s time to start thinking about
Prairieland
School’s
5th annual Walking School Bus! It is scheduled for Wednesday, October 7 (rain
date is October 8) and is held early in the morning before school begins.
What is a walking school bus? It’s a group of children walking to school with
one or more adults. They are becoming popular all across the country as a way to
motivate children to exercise, while also reducing traffic and congestion around
schools.
Our event is very simple. Kids walk to school, some carrying signs. We greet
them at the school with a sticker and a piece of fruit, and then send them on
their way.
We need volunteers to:

Color posters at home that your children will carry that morning to school
that read "We are a Walking School Bus!"

To purchase, wash and distribute fruit (bananas or apples) (2 or 3
people)

Help staff certain points in various neighborhoods to ensure safe walking
(approx 12-15 people)
Here are the
locations that need volunteers. You should plan to be at your post no later than 7:45 a.m. We depart for school at 7:55 a.m.

able to fill a slot, please email

Young to let her know which. Also, we encourage you to wear yellow and carry
a sign that reads “We are a walking school bus!”
