  • click on the mouse to return to this page or use the links above and below to navigate the PDA 412 site

Introduction:
The Quest is a project designed to introduce the classroom teacher to the concept of Internet-Based Lessons and Projects.  What is an IBL or IBP anyway?  Where can you find them?  How do you use them in the classroom? How can you create your own?  What are WebQuests?  What is Information Gathering?  What is Conferencing?  What are keypals?  You need to find out before we can go on!  You get to discover a whole new world of Internet-Based Lessons and Projects - a world on the World Wide Web you may never have known existed.

Task::

1. Each individual or pair of partners will discover what Internet-Based Learning is all about.

2. Each individual or pair will search the web for information about Internet-Based Lessons and Projects.  You need to find and record answers to the following questions.  You may record your answers in writing or in a Microsoft Word document. Items with (URL) ask for a web address for the answer.

  • What is the definition of an Internet-Based Lesson or Project?
  • What is a WebQuest?
  • What types of Internet-based projects are there?
  • Where could a teacher find links to several project? (URL)
  • Where could a teacher post their own project? (URL)
  • What are the main components of an IBL or IBP?
  • What is one example of a primary-level IBP? (URL)
  • What is one example of an intermediate-level IBP? (URL)
  • What is one example of a middle-school level IBP? (URL)
  • What is one example of a secondary-level IBP? (URL)
  • What site did you find most useful and beneficial? (URL)

3. Following the quest for these answers, individuals and partners will analyze what they have found and share it with the group at the appropriate time.

Process:

1. To return to this page at anytime from within the PDA 412 site, just click the mouse icon.

2. Decide which method you would like to use to record the results of your quest - pen and paper or Microsoft Word.

3. Get organized - decide how you want to tackle the information.  You may start with the PDA 412 pages or with the web.  You obviously can tackle one question at a time or look through sites that may provide answers to more than one question.

4. Go to the Inernet and use the PDA 412 pages to find answers to the questions you were given.  Your quest should provide you with the knowledge you need to complete this course successfully.

5. Record answers as you find them and be ready to share your results at the end.  It would be nice to have you email me the sites you find as well as a small commentary about their usefulness - email me at mattheba@unit5.org.
