Once you feel comfortable with the concept of Internet-Based Lessons and Projects, it would be wonderful to create your own.  You will have the chance to start creating your own, or at least coming up with ideas for your own, during the second session of this course.  Once you have some ideas or a project of your own, the "share" link above may come in very handy for you!

Some key steps to a successful Internet-Based Lesson or Project are in the column to the right.

Here are some things good Internet-Based Lessons and Projects will include:

  • Introduction to Project
  • The Task
  • The Process
  • Resources
  • Evaluation/Assessment
  • Conclusion
  • Teacher Notes

Be sure to have a plan and purpose.  You will get some handouts to use in the process.

You will also need to learn how to create basic web pages and sites to get your project online.  You may want to take one of the web page classes offered through the Unit 5 PDA if you are not already able to do this.

when creating your own, there are several steps to follow and resources to use (some of these steps were borrowed from a presentation by glenda Bequette from the ISBE)

  • refer to curriculum goals - what area do you want to focus on?

  • become familiar with different types of ineternet projects

  • visit other's lessons and projects to see how they are set-up: remember things you like and don't

  • refine your curriculum focus

  • design the project - include specific learning goals

  • create a timeline for the project - including the creation and implementation - give yourself time to get it done!

  • be sure to test your project to make sure everything works and prevent hasles in the future

  • create a "call for participation" announcement - be as specific as possible

  • post your call for participation at least a month in advance and repeat it two weeks before the project starts

  • train several of your higher/responsible students for specific tasks throughout the project

  • afterwards, be sure to analyze and make changes for the future

  • afterwards, be sure to share the results with the participants

  • resources found to the left and on the "resources" page
