Tips & Tricks Types
Word Art itself is a Microsoft created product. However, the
idea of using words and text "artistically" has been around a
much longer time. When referring to
"types" in reference to Word Art, there are several
"styles" of Word Art to choose from. You should decide on
your purpose and then allow that to determine the style:
- circular
- banner
- outlines
- backgrounds
- 3-D
- waves
- shapes

Word Art itself can be created and used directly in Microsoft's
productivity tools such as Word and Power Point. However, you can
then take that Word Art and create an image (gif or jpg) and use it in web
page or other documents, etc. Microsoft
Word/Power Point
- In your document you should see a
"drawing toolbar"

- If not, right click on the top toolbar
and then click on "drawing" and it should appear

- This is the Word Art Gallery you can
choose from

- Then you can edit the text and make it
your own

- click "ok" and it inserts it
into your document
- now you can move it and manipulate it or
completely change it again

Creating an Image with Your Word Art To
create a gif or jpeg image from your Word Art, do all of the following and
then:
- right click the word art
- select copy
- go to START
- go to "programs"
- go to accessories
- open "paint"
- go to edit / paste
- or right click in paint and select paste
- now you can add to it or leave it as it
is . . .
- go to "file"
- select "save as . . ."
- name the file
- select the file type - probably will
limit you to BMPs - you can then open this BMP in PhotoEditor and
resave it as a gif or jpeg
- now you can access and use that image in
a number of applications

Tips & Tricks
- some Word Art looks more professional
than other
- decide on the purpose and use and then
design it according to that
- maybe you could come up with a
"logo" that you use on a newsletter you make in Word and
then you could use the same logo on a classroom webpage by following
the above directions.
- be creative, play around, have fun
- you can incorporate word art in or on a
photo by inserting in on top of a photo in Phot Editor
