Scanners are available in all buildings - check the IMC or a computer lab.  Most are extremely easy to use! Scanners

Types  |  Tools  |  Tips & Tricks

Types
As with digital cameras, and most other technologies for that matter, there are several different scanners on the market.  They are becoming more and more affordable - in fact you can get many for much less than $100.  Some scanners are better than others, some are larger, some do text better than others, etc.

The scanners in our buildings are Hewlett-Packard and are easy to use one-touch scanners.  In other words, you simply put the image on the glass, hit the button and it scans it for you - you just have to tell it what you want it to scan, where you want it to go, and then accept and save it when it is finished.

Tools
The scanner itself should be all you need to concern yourself with, though there are some other pieces/parts it would be helpful to know about.

  • the glass
  • the "button"
  • the cords
  • the software

Everything should be hooked up and ready to go in the IMCs and computer labs.
