Before
beginning to create publications it is a good idea to
get used to how the application is set-up, its layout
and interface, etc. The following information will
be a good place for you to start.
What it is »
Publisher is a "Desktop Publishing"
program/application use to create a variety of
publications. Publication software, like
Publisher, allows you to create publications using text
and graphics, as well as other objects. Rather
than just using "in-line" text (like Microsoft
Word, for example) each item, including a block of text,
is an object that can be placed anywhere in the
publication/document.
How it works »
Using either pre-made templates, design sets or starting
from a blank document, the user creates a finished
product (a publication) for a variety of purposes and
audiences. Some examples of types can be seen on
the .:Publications:.
page. Users can move objects around within the
document, change their shape and size, insert graphics,
text and other objects, change formats and styles, add
backgrounds, etc. These pieces are combined to
create a finsihed product or set of products.
