Links to Art Sites |
| The following links are kid
friendly. They were still available the last I checked but as you know
if you've done internet surfing, sometimes they just disappear! http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/gogh/ : this is a site about the artist Vincent VanGogh which in one artist we study in art class. The "Starry Night" is one of VanGogh's more famous works; but this site allows you to visit and look at many of his works. If you click on one of the photographs, it takes you to a larger scale view and you can see VanGogh's "famous" brush stokes that he is known for. Enjoy! |
| http://www.olejarz.com/arted/perspective/index.html : this is a great site for 4th/5th/6th graders and learning about the concept of perspective. It gives step-by-step instructions and it is an interactive site so the child is doing while learning. In art we introduce simple perspective at 3rd/4th grade. At 5th/6th the students create a drawing using one-point perspective rules. |
| http://www.sanford-artedventures.com/study/timeline.html: this is a nice site that gives a history of art. It is set up as a timeline and there are links you can go to give you more information regarding that particular period. At the 6th grade level we do an art history project in which the students research about an artist. They become familiar with the artist's style and then create a miniature artwork that is displayed on an easel. |
