Each class or grade level will be learning about different concepts that relate to developing and applying skills, art elements (ie: color, line, shape, space, value, texture, form); design principles (balance, pattern, variety, proportion, perspective); art history which includes artists as well as time periods and styles of art (realistic, abstract, non-objective), multicultural type lessons, and with the lower grades, projects based on a book read to them.

During this trimester students will be doing a lot of drawing to enhance their skills and confidence. This is especially true for grades Kindergarten through second grades. There will be some drawing at the third through fifth grade levels but they will be doing projects where they are expected to be able to draw more independently as well as add and go beyond the basic expectations for each project.
