Thanks for attending the Curriculum Night/Parent
Orientation on Tuesday! It was great to see so many
of you there.
I apologize I had to talk and run ... but I appreciate
your understanding and look forward to meeting all of
you individually.
I’ve received emails already from several of you, and
I know I still have some to respond to. I’m not
ignoring you! I promise! I’m working through them as
I can get to them, and hopefully by the end of the
week I’ll be caught up on those.
I wanted to send all of you a quick email (okay, so
maybe it’s already past the quick stage) to update
you on a few items. This will also go home in paper
form on Friday, just in case!

FORMS, FORMS, EVERYWHERE THERE’S FORMS

Blue music expectation forms, white Cougar Chorus
forms, yellow Cougar Council forms, white band and
strings forms ....
If your child has not brought back a form that they
need to, please do so ASAP! They should all bring
back the blue music slip. Those who are interested in
Cougar Chorus, Cougar Council, or band and strings
should bring back the appropriate papers for those as
well. Some are not due until next week, but I’d love
to get them collected as soon as possible!

MAGAZINE SALES

I’ve seen September 8, 11 and 14th all posted as
ending dates for the Magazine Sale. To be honest,
I’m not sure which date it is, but the PIECE group is
asking every child to try to sell 5 items. This is their
only real fundraiser of the year (they are also running
an “un-raiser”), so if you can participate I know it
would be appreciated. Completed sales materials
should be turned in anytime between now and the
14th. Questions should be directed to PIECE as all I
know is that I’m supposed to collect the stuff!

SCHOOL PICTURES
|

School pictures will be taken September 11. That’s a
Monday! Your child should be bringing home the
picture form and information tonight ... feel free to
return it before the 11 so they don’t forget. Every
child will have their picture taken for the yearbook,
but you also have the option of purchasing photos in
various packages – all explained on the form (yes
another form) that they are bringing home tonight.

I NEED YOUR HELP!

We’re finally getting comfortable with some routines
and expectations in here. But I need your help. If
you have time, please review with your child their
multiplication facts (flash cards can be a fun way of
doing that ... you can even Google math flash cards
and find online versions!). It would also help if you
could encourage your child to write and read as often
as possible ... maybe get them a penpal, have a
reading time with them, etc. It’s very important that
they keep working at sentence and paragraph
structure ... and practicing their writing and reading
for enjoyment should both help!

www.thechampions.us ... there is even a page there
just for you that includes links to the Classroom
Handbook and the presentation from Curriculum
Night. I will post homework there regularly, as well
as class pictures and projects, links and resources,
and even trivia questions that the students can
answer to earn extra Matthews Money!
