How to Make a Derby Car

In case you ever want to, here is how to make a derby car.  First, get about a six by three block of wood.  Then draw and cut a shape of a car in the block of wood.  There are slits on the bottom of your car, put the pieces of metal in those slits.  Next, put a wheel on each side of the two pieces of metal and finally decorate your car.  Now you have a derby car!  You can get a kit to make this at a cub scout store.

The Spider

The spider is a fascinating animal.  It lives in a unique habitat, has many survival skills, and has other interesting qualities.

The spider lives in a unique habitat.  Some spiders live in Asia, Australia, Africa, North America and South America.  Most spiders like dry, dark and hot places.  Their surroundings are usually rocky.

The spider has many adaptations that help it survive.  Its spinnerets help it make its web.  Its claws help climb on its web.  Its palps help it feel, taste and crush food.

There are other neat facts that make the spider a special animal.  The spider molts when its skin gets too tight.  A baby spider eats the yolk from its egg.  A male spider is smaller than the female.

The spider is quite an animal.  Its habitat and adaptations make it unique.  Can you believe spiders help us by eating bugs we don’t like?

MY FAMILY

I have a Mom named Tracy, and a Dad named Matthew.  My Dad is an insurance agent.  My sister’s name is Rachel.  My sister is a basketball player for Parkside Junior High.  Rachel and I also have a hamster named Sara.  I don’t like the name Sara for a hamster.

My family lives at my house.  There are a lot of kids on our street.

My Mom takes us to the pool.  Going off the diving board is really fun.  My Mom doesn’t go off the diving board, but she does get in the pool.  We also go down the slides.  There are two slides, one is blue and one is pink.  The pink slide is faster.

Our Dad takes us to the tennis court.  He takes me, Rachel and Zoe.  Zoe is my stepsister who is 5 years old.  First we all do a warm-up game.  Then we do boys vs. girls!  It is really fun when my Mom and Dad take us places.  We enjoy having fun together.
