PBIS FAQ
- What is PBIS? PBIS
stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and
Supports. This approach rewards appropriate
behaviors for creating a positive learning
environment.
- Where is PBIS
implemented? PBIS is implemented in areas
including the classroom and non-classroom settings
(such as hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and bus
lane).
- How is PBIS
implemented? Python Pride Awards (Green
slips) are given to students who display appropriate
behaviors and are intended to recognize students who are
being respectful, responsible, and safe. "Green
slips" give a staff member an opportunity to model what
appropriate behaviors look like for other students .
Python Pride Patrol slips (Yellow
slips) are given to students who display inappropriate
behaviors in non-classroom areas (such as hallways,
restrooms, cafeteria, and bus lane). If a
student receives three "yellow slips" they
receive a detention. If a student continues to
receive "yellow slips", the consequences and
intervention techniques increase. "Yellow slips" are
intended to be used to document the behavior and
initiate a conversation between the staff member and
student about how to turn an inappropriate behavior
into an appropriate behavior. Out of the Blue
Days are random rewards given throughout the month
to encourage positive behavior.
- What is the PBIS
store menu? During lunch on Fridays, students
can redeem their "green slips" for various prizes
offered at the PBIS store.
- How can PJHS parents
help out? The PTO is always looking for
volunteers to run the PBIS store. If you are
interested in helping run the PBIS store, please contact
the main office at 452-8321. Donated incentives
are always needed. Please see the PBIS wish list
for rewards that our students have requested.
Bring donated items to the main office.
- How can I contact the
PBIS team? Please e-mail the
PBIS Team with suggestions or questions.
