Pepper Ridge Promise Council
The Pepper Ridge Promise Council (PRPC) believes that children deserve the opportunity to succeed. We know that every child has a better chance to succeed when the following promises are met:
We know that each school is a unique community whose
students and families have unique needs.
In cooperation with school leaders and community
contacts, we have designed the PRPC to meet some of the
unique needs of Pepper Ridge students.
We are a new group and therefore a “work in
progress.”
As the school year progresses, we hope to streamline our
operation, identify what needs we can and can’t meet,
and learn to operate efficiently.
What type of needs could the PRPC meet? Our initial focus is in meeting students’ academic and physical needs. We wish to increase mentoring opportunities and fill those spots with volunteers. We want to provide additional opportunity for parental engagement at the school. We intend to quickly meet the needs of students when they fall within our guidelines to do so.
Who determines
those needs?
Pepper Ridge teachers fill out a request form and
submit it to School Principal Sarah Edwards.
A determination is quickly made as to whether or
not the request is appropriate for the Promise Council.
How will the PRPC fill needs that are determined to be appropriate? The PRPC will work with individual volunteers and partner organizations across all sectors: businesses, universities, service organizations, faith-based groups, retirees, and health care.
