Principal’s Report: Mrs. Shelly Erickson – ISAT and SAT 10 testing started today. Snacks were donated and very appreciated. ISAT’s should finish for the most part this week. SAT 10 will finish this week as well. Teachers have really appreciated the laminator. Thank you for coming to do the penguin tattoos. Last day for snow cone rewards for math facts. A few volunteers are needed. March 22nd at 1:00 or 1:30 to start. Dr. Gary Niehaus has been chosen as the new Superintendent. He will be introduced at the next board meeting on Wednesday, March 14.

COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS REPORTS:

Scrips: No total was submitted for the month. Next order is due April 16th for delivery April 23rd or due May 7th for delivery May 14th . Encouraging Noodles scrip purchases.

Fund Raising: Butterbraids are doing well. New fund raising company offers 50% profit for the school. The products include gifts, wrapping paper, candy, etc…Susan had proposed Aug. 30-Sept. 10 with delivery the 2nd week of October. Mrs. Erickson asked if it could be scheduled for after Labor Day. There would need to be an August kickoff. He is offering an ice cream party or a sweet treat party for selling 15 items or more.
.
Assemblies: Angie Stoewer was asking about the “Assembly” responsibilities. It was difficult to schedule assemblies because the calendar and date confirmation needed to go through Mrs. Erickson. Next year, the Assembly coordinator may create a list of ideas and then submit them to Mrs. Erickson for scheduling. Para-Olympic Volleyball player program went very well.

Sunshine, Box Tops: Sent flowers to a staff member who lost a family member. We are still collecting box tops. She will forward box top information to Chris Rhodes who will forward the information to Mrs. Erickson.

Family Fun Night: Has checked with Noodles about working out a date for fund raising night. She is still trying to make contact with the restaurant coordinator. Chris Nichols said it has worked better to choose 4-5 nights to have them donate 10% each of those nights. School families can buy a “Noodles” scrip card to use that night and we can benefit from the usage twice that way. She will continue to try to make contact and finalize those details. Prizes are getting worked out. Some of the games are not usable from last year. Mr. Biancalana is going to make one new game for us. She’s getting volunteers to work the games, a set up and tear down crew, etc… Christie Consenza’s brother-in-law is going to drinks for free or inexpensive again. Sorority has not responded yet. We are still waiting to hear if we’ll have volunteers to help in the night of the event.

Playground Repairs: Chris received the quote from Don Roberts for the replacement trapeze items. $122.20 for all “S” hooks to be replaced and the chains. He will also check into prices for replacement for swings. (All regular swings and the one special education swing seat.) On the adapted swing there is a strap that broke. It needs to be replaced. We may be able to just replace the strap and not the swing. Still waiting to hear back from the insurance agent about the liability of having volunteer parents help with work day on the playground. We could possibly have the Boy Scouts and/or Girl Scouts come and help too. (Maybe even the Brownies from 2nd and 3rd grade.) Chris wants to submit his estimate for approval to be repaired. Motion was made, seconded and passed.

NEW BUSINESS:

Question was raised about the sound quality at the Spring music concert for 4th and 5th grades. We thought we’d purchased a new microphone or newer equipment. The sound system needs replacement or adjustment. Mrs. Erickson will discuss the matter with Mrs. Hardwick.

$50 was requested for the Chess Club by Lisa Swartz. Motion was made, seconded and passed.

Mrs. Nave and Mrs. Pennington are retiring at the end of the school year. We will need to get a committee together to plan these events. Angie Stoewer will organize it. Susan Biancalana, Kathy Berry and Dianna Cordero will assist. A tentative date has been set for May 7th 5:30-6:30 with the PTO meeting to follow.

The meeting adjourned at 7:20.
