BOARD REPORTS:
Co-Presidents: A member suggested that we give away a gift card
from the scrip program every month to a child of a parent who
attends the meeting. We will put names in a hat and draw the
winner, Mrs. Erickson will announce the winner on the P.A. on
Monday. This month’s card was $25 for Barnes and Noble. Next
month’s meeting will be at Fiesta Ranchera restaurant. The
deadline for the yearbook pictures to be submitted to Interstate
studios in March 1st, if you have any photos to submit please
send them to pspix2007@gmail.com.
Principal’s Report: Study Island, an online program to help 3rd
through 5th graders to prepare for ISAT, is now up and running.
Mr. Starr volunteered $500 from his PTO grant to help defray the
costs, hopefully the PTO can pick up the rest of the cost, $413.
There are many new additions to the rewards cart. Happy feet day
will be on Friday due to the snow day.
COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS REPORTS:
Scrips: Karl Sila reported that scrip revenue was down
considerably in January after having 2 fairly good months in
Nov. and Dec. Discussed not sending out order forms to every
kid, but instead leaving them in the lobby so any interested
parties can just pick them up.
Room Parent Coordinator: Kathy Berry reported good progress in
obtaining parent volunteers for the Valentines day parties. All
good!
Hospitality: Angie Stoewer reported on the possibility of
providing some snacks for the teachers on Valentines day.
Box Tops: LaNell Greenburg reminded us that box tops can be
turned in all year long. Box tops have done well this year.
Family Fun Night: Susan Biancalana reported that she would like
some help with photocopying and distributing volunteer forms.
She has a system in place for calling volunteers. Discussed
pre-selling armbands, selling the armbands on the penguin cart,
the decision to go with a certificate for the handstamps,
pricing for handstamps, (will be $10 at the door, $8 if bought
in advance) The inflatables company has a new obstacle course
but we will still have the obstacle course in the IMC.
Yearbook: Anna Gernentz reported that she had brought her laptop
and already had 2 pages of candids for the yearbook completed in
case anybody would like to see them. Discussed adding more float
pictures and we are looking forward to any Valentines day
pictures to be added.
Assemblies: Angie Stoewer reported on future assemblies, such as
the science themed “getting excited about science” and the play
in May. Many others then commented on how well received the
“Dino Discovery Days” assembly went. Nice work Angie!
NEW BUSINESS:
Motion: To reimburse Mrs. Erickson $413 dollars to help defray
the cost of the Study Island ISAT review software. Motion passed
unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25.
