February 19, 2007
MEMBERS PRESENT: Chris Nichols, Elizabeth Tomera, Julie
Workman, Kathy Berry, Michele Sampson, Dianna Cordero, Chris
Rhodes, Donna Leamer, LaNell Greenberg, Karl Sila, Shelly
Erickson, Terri Schmidt
The meeting opened at 6:35 PM
BOARD REPORTS:
Co-Presidents: Chris welcomed the assembly and
thanked/recognized the individuals who have volunteered to
assist with childcare during meetings. Chris is updating
committee sheet. We are encouraging people currently volunteer
to continue in current positions for committees. Motion was made
to order laminator. It was seconded and passed.
Principal’s Report: Mrs. Shelly Erickson – Laminator has
been requested by the staff because it’s broken. The one they
had before lasted for about 10 years with very few service
calls. The new model has an auto shut-off. (Safety, energy
efficient). We will have 1 year of free service if we go with
the existing company. Teachers requested to have ISAT snacks
again for grades 3-5 and SAT 10 for 2nd grade (water and
granola) Testing is from March 12-21. She will remind parents
about parking lot safety and being courteous when picking up and
dropping off. ISAT reports from last year just were returned.
Will be coming home soon.
COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS REPORTS:
Scrips: YTD $560.93 profits. Orders were slow in January.
Suggestion-they also offer gas cards. (BP, Mobile, Shell, etc…)
They don’t offer the profit only 1½ to 2%. They are beginning an
online scrip program. We’ll possibly start using the online
opportunity for scrips next year.
Fund Raising: The new chair will be Susan Biancalana for
fund raising in 2007-08. She suggests we do catalog sale next
year in addition to the No Hassle Fund raiser. Need confirmation
of dates and companies in March. Sale will be held in September.
Fund raiser information will be presented at the Kindergarten
registration and at August registration. March 8th or 9th will
be the due date for the next Butterbraid sale. Noodles
Restaurant has offered to do a Noodle night as a fund raiser
night.
Spirit Wear: No spirit wear for FFN this year.
Market Day: Elizabeth Tomera – Market Day orders have
been low the last couple of months. They want us to get the
orders up to make it cost effective to run the truck to our
school. Families may get calls encouraging them to order. Add a
blurb in the newsletter that our sponsorship goes by the number
of orders not the number of items. Elizabeth will be stepping
down next year.
Room Parent Coordinator: We will put something in place
for if we ever have another snow day during a party day. From
now on, plan that parties will be rescheduled for a later day
(not for the first day we return). Thank you for helping with
Valentine’s party and being flexible.
Girl Scout Recognition: The Girl Scouts have discontinued
the program.
Family Fun Night: April 20th is the date of the event. We
will offer a stamp to do for games this year the cost (between
$7-$10). Food will be separate and additional cost. Tickets will
still be available for families who don’t want to purchase hand
stamp. We will have hotdogs instead of torpedo subs this year.
Drinks will be provided through Christie Consenza’s
brother-in-law. Mrs. Erickson will check will school cook about
helping with concessions at FFN. She would be paid. Inflatables
and snowcone machine have both been rented. We will need to buy
the supplies (syrup, ice, cups). Need to have nothing scheduled
on the 20th afterward. Susan will purchase fish and bowls. For
the goldfish toss game. They’ll donate bags. We can not park on
the east side of Colchester. Request temporary “NO PARKING”
signs. Kathy Berry will donate bags for ticket table prizes.
Insurance company has cleared us. Kathy is trying to get
sorority to help man the inflatables, temporary tattoos, face
painting and obstacle course. We may also contact the Key Club
at Normal West. (Math Office is contact department.) We will not
sell shirts at FFN this year.
Playground Repairs: Have not received any quotes on playground
“S” rings. Have requested for the swing set to be inspected and
replace pieces that are in need. Chris has not received
information from insurance for volunteers helping tonight.
NEW BUSINESS:
Rooms have been very cold. Maintenance has been out to check on
it. The outside rooms (2A and 3L especially) are cold. They are
kicking on as early as they need to be to warm the rooms in time
for classes. Mrs. Erickson has contacted the appropriate people
at district office about the problem and is working on it.
Emails can be addressed to Jeff Monahan at district
office/maintenance or Mr. Boswell.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40
