Sampson, Dianna Cordero, Chris Rhodes, Donna Leamer, Shelly
Erickson, Angie Stoewer, Elizabeth Tomera, Kris Stayton, Cindy
Gilliam, Karl Sila

BOARD REPORTS:
Co-Presidents: April 28th is the official day for
playground clean up. Need to make a decision on inviting the
girl scouts to volunteer. It doesn’t look as though the girl
scouts will be able to help due to the number that have soccer
that day. Chris will shop around to purchase a Snow Cone
machine. He’ll price them and compare to find the best deal.
Treasurer’s Report: Michele Sampson – Received $1500 from
State Farm Grants. There was also a $550 refund check from
Harcourt.
Principal’s Report: Sound system: the stereo system was
purchased by the PTO, but some knobs were adjusted which caused
the glitches during the spring 4-5th grade concert. ISAT tests
are finished. Drew names for prizes after ISAT. Field day will
be scheduled and announced soon. June 6th we will attend for an
hour. June 4-5th will be full days.
Diana will come to Kindergarten Registration to talk about PTO.
There will be stations in the gym and it would be helpful to
have a few parent volunteers. (times 9:00 and 1:00)
COMMITTEE CHAIRPERSONS REPORTS:
Scrips: Coordinating Noodles night with scrip sales.
Order forms for April are put together and will be distributed
soon.
Market Day: Proposal was made to hand out samples at
Kindergarten registration, but with everything going on it would
be easier not to have the extra thing. Market Day is the day
before Family Fun Night. Need volunteers. Come at 3:00 and leave
by 5:00. Two of the usual volunteers including Elizabeth will
not be able to be there. Pie orders on May 11th. Market Day
April 19th. (Pick up Day) Order by April 14th at noon on line.
We have the option to do the summer months for Market Day sales
in June, July, August. Monday, April 16th is the deadline for
Basket Raffle Items.
Room Parent Coordinator: Kathy had a question about who
is responsible for making the sheet that goes out next year in
the registration packet.
Hospitality: Nancy will asked to contact Mrs. Erickson
about Teacher Appreciation Week May 7th-11.
Sunshine: Secretaries Day is at the end of the month. (April
25th).
.
Family Fun Night: Custodians will be given some sort of
bonus in a card as a thank you to them. Possibly purchase scrip
gift cards. Family Fun Night is 5:00-7:30. We will be collecting
items for the Cake Walk. A date will be announced when you can
begin sending in items.
Playground Repairs: There is a concern with children
volunteering. Boy scouts have been used in the past. Start time
will be 10:00-2:00. April 28th is the first date. We will work
from 10:00-2:00. May 5th will be the rain date. If the Girl
scouts are unable to do it, Chris will check with Cub Scouts.
Chris will need to purchase supplies: black top paint, Rustoleum
paint, brushes. Gary Little (Head of Parks and Rec – Town of
Normal). He helped a parent from Fairview to work through the
company. They are contributing a couple thousand dollars and the
Town of Normal is installing it so all code regulations would be
up to specs. Chris Nichols will pursue the possibility of us
doing that same sort of program with Mr. Little. Diana Cordero
has a contact at Home Depot that has offered to donate/discount
some of the supplies. Kathy Berry made a motion to fund the
supplies up to $500. Elizabeth Tomera 2nd the motion. It passed.
With $10,000 we can afford to purchase some small pieces.
NEW BUSINESS:
Yearbook: next year we will use an official photographer
(volunteer) to take pictures at events such as Homecoming,
Family Fun Night, classroom parties, etc…They would also accept
donated pictures from parents who have attended those events.
Scrapbook and Historian will be combined into one position who
would service as our photographer and archivist. Pictures would
be taken on digital cameras, emailed in and then stored for
future use.
School board election: April 17th. There are some
incumbents and there are some new candidates. Karl Sila is
running for Library Board.
Retirement Parties: There will be a retirement party for
Mrs. Nave and Mrs. Pennington at 5:30-6:30 on May 7th. The final
PTO meeting of the year will follow immediately afterward.
The following committee chair spots are open: Market Day,
Archivist, School Kits, Family Fun Night, Santa Secret Workshop
will need a co-chair, Health Safety (Red Ribbon Week) – Mrs.
Erickson will take over that position and we’ll reimburse her
for purchases.
The meeting adjourned at 7:25.
