Treasurers Report
Family Fun Night funds raised were between $3500 and $3700. Kathy Berry
figured that this year’s restaurant fundraising resulted in
around $1000 earned between the five different restaurant nights
that were held.
Principals Report
May 24th Play Day will be held and the talent show is on the
afternoon of the 21st. Michelle Sampson asked for more play day
volunteers. The luncheon celebrating exiting staff will be held
May 18th. Angie Stower is working with Moe’s. PTO is asking for
recess coverage volunteers for May 18th so that all teachers and
staff can participate in the all-staff luncheon.
Committee Chair Reports
Family Fun Night
DiAnn Naden reported that Family Fun Night had 110 different
volunteers who helped throughout the night! There were 150
half-hour shift helpers and 146 pre-sale wristbands were sold,
additionally 126 were sold the night of FFN. The anticipated
profit is about $3900 (but that is not counting the expenses for
food or basket auction). 1450 prizes were used and 1930 pieces
of candy. There are left-over prizes in the PTO closet for next
year and the left over candy was donated to teachers and the
PBIS cart. In the future she doesn’t recommend the slam dunk
because it was difficult for the little kids. There are only two
volunteers needed at the Velcro wall and we should use the
inflatable ninja obstacle and the bounce house. It may be
advantageous to sell the tickets and distribute wristbands
earlier, maybe 15 minutes. Kristy Siebert was a huge help with
the sales the night of FFN. Chris Nichols said that there was
increase in food this year to 320 hot dogs, up by 80 from last
year. And DiAnn and other PTO attendees thought that starting
food service a half-hour before the official start to FFN might
work out well for teachers and volunteers especially. There were
14 games this year and a reduction may be a good idea. We will
continue to keep the date in mid-April, so long as it avoids
other Unit 5 activities. Key Club from the high school was a
great help and we plan to use them as volunteers again. Teachers
will always be offered the first choice of volunteer positions.
We had wonderful teacher volunteers! The Marsaglias will do
basket auction again. The teacher raffle was a great idea and
the students loved it. The baskets did the best ever! Tony
Marsaglia mentioned that opening the curtain next year may be a
good idea. Shelly E. agreed and it would be easier to hear her
reading the drawing. It was mentioned that maybe next year we
should start the auction at 7:30?
Butter Braids
Susan Biancalana said she will continue to take care of the
butter braid fundraising for 2010-2011. The Fall Fundraiser,
headed by Melissa Traum and Jennifer Barlow, will kick-off
either September 13 or 20. Shelly E. thought the 13th would be
best. Karl Sila reported that Scrips made $130 last month and we
need to continue to push Scrips as much as possible. Marianne
Sila will take care of ordering the Scrips banner to have in
time for the next school year.
Teacher Appreciation
Angie Stoewer planned teacher appreciation week. Monday will
have a Barnes & Noble gift card winner and orbitz gum. Tuesday
is the theme that we are lucky to have our teachers so they are
each getting a lotto ticket. Wednesday is the luncheon and chips
and munchies are needed. Thursday is “Thanks a latte.” and
someone will get a Starbucks gift card. Friday she is thinking
about having Great Harvest breads.
Restaurant Fundraising
Kathy Berry said that Monicals raised $126.14 last month and
maybe it would be nice to add Moe’s and Rosati’s to next year’s
line-up. Angie S. and Kathy B. will not be continuing with their
PTO positions.
Assemblies
The upcoming assemblies are Normal Public Library on the 19th
and Prairie Fire Theatre on May 12th, Angie S. said. Angie S.
will continue as assembly chairperson.
Spirit Wear
Julie Workman said that there were 21 spirit wear orders for
spring, 42 pieces total. Julie will continue as spirit wear
chair. PTO agreed to only hold one spirit wear sale next school
year, sometime in October. This order didn’t meet the companies
minimum sales so they made an exception but maybe by doing only
one order per year this will be easier to meet. Julie Workman
also is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the PTO
facebook page. The president and vice president should e-mail
her bi-weekly updates as needed.
Playground
Playground updating is a PTO financial goal, Elizabeth T. said.
DiAnn Naden said that she will be setting up a meeting for a
playground equipment estimate and to go over the safety laws as
they pertain to metal items that may need to be removed. The pea
gravel will need to be replaced and hopefully that will leave
about $7000 or $8000 to purchase a piece of equipment. Kathy
Berry made a motion to approve PTO to spend up to $15,000 of its
fund on the necessary playground improvements. The motion was
seconded by Elizabeth Tomera.
Shelly E. thanked this years PTO for being reliable and
dependable. May 14th is the PBIS baseball game and we can use
the FFN leftovers for it as well. Also, CAC representatives for
next year will be Melissa Beaver and Dan Burmiester. Elizabeth
T. wished the incoming board good luck.
Kathy B. made a motion to adjourn at 7:30pm. The motion
to adjourn was seconded by Karl S.
