Parkside goes the distance with reading!!
Our "Keys to Comprehension" program has been
a great success this year. Students have shared their mastery in
the classroom, in their area classes, and outside of school as
well. Students that have completed all of their keys will be
rewarded with a movie TBD on Friday, May 16. |
Parkside Unlocks the Magic of Reading
Last years math facts goals were a great
success here at Parkside. This year we are focusing on reading
for our school improvement plan. Students will be introduced
each month to a new "Key to Comprehension," and will have the
opportunity to master that key skill and earn prizes. We are
asking for parents to help us reach this goal by encouraging
your students to complete their monthly take-home assignments. |

What is Scrip?
Scrip is simply a word that means 'substitute money', in other
words, scrips is a gift certificate from national and local
retailers. The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular
household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our
school without spending a single additional penny. Just spend
your regular shopping dollars for about any household purchase
including groceries, clothing, entertainment, gasoline, airfare,
and dining out. Retailers sell us the gift certificates at a
discount, we sell them for face value and they redeem for face
value, and the 2-15% difference is our revenue. This revenue is
used for programs, assemblies, and teachers wish list items
which enhance your child's education and experience at Parkside.

program. Market Day carries wonderful restaurant quality foods
at grocery store prices and their products are backed by a 100%

convenience of your home, and pick them up on a designated day
at the school each month. 10% of every order is given back to Parkside Elementary. Market Day earnings for the 2005-2006
school year were $3500. These funds are used for programs,
