PTO is putting together a fun Parkside night at the Saturday, January 23rd Thunder Hockey game. Thunder Hockey ticket forms are due by next Tuesday, January 19th!
Children 2 and under are free. They do not need a ticket to get into the game. If there are multiple kids in a family, the kids' names can be written on 1 form on the free ticket line together OR staple the forms together for each child's name. It doesn't have to be a 1:1 ratio for adult tickets to the free children's tickets. We have many single-parent families with 2-3 kids and they would purchase the one ticket and then write the kids' name on one form or attach forms together. Bloomington Thunder just doesn't want a parent to bring 10 free kids that are friends!
Eastern Illinois Foodbank is having a mobile pantry distribution (Foodmobile) in McLean, IL on January 23rd from 10AM to 12PM. The Foodmobile is open to all income-eligible McLean County residents. There will be fresh produce, frozen USDA chickens, peanut butter and other healthy staples. SNAP application assistance and milk vouchers will also be offered at the Foodmobile. Unit 5 has begun the process of transitioning to Standards Based Grading in the elementary grades. Teachers and administrators have been engaged in study and research around Standards Based Grading and many teachers have begun to shift their assessment practices to align to this type of grading and reporting. In the 2016-2017 school year, teachers will begin to report some grades in the Standards Based Grading format, and we will have full implementation in 2017-2018. There will be opportunities for parents to learn more about this shift in grading and reporting. For more information, click here
This message is for families that have a student riding the bus to and/or from school.
My Stop is a web-based application now available to all Unit 5 parents to access live bus GPS information using a smartphone, tablet or computer to securely view the current location of their child’s bus on routes to and from school. The system also provides the school bus’s estimated time of arrival at your child’s bus stop.
The new MyStop tracking software is integrated with the District’s computerized bus routing system and the GPS devices installed on every bus. Data integration takes the student’s bus route information and overlays it onto a map that tracks the actual location of a student’s school bus to the designated pick-up/drop-off point.
A parent can only view information related to their child(ren) using a secure login and password.
