Adventure of the Mind
An Adventure of the American Mind (AAM) four-day institute
was offered at Illinois State University this summer. This
project provides professional development opportunity for
classroom teachers, librarians, and support personnel. AAM
enables educators to incorporate the Library of Congress digital
collections into school curricula and provides access to an
incredible wealth of information and knowledge for various
school projects.
Unit 5 had eight (8) schools and 44 teachers participate. All
participants submitted a lesson plan which demonstrated
effective, efficient, and wise use of the Library of Congress.
Lesson Plan Database is available: http://www.aamprogram.org/resources/lesson_plans.aspx
For their participation, each individual received a graduate
credit, CPDUs, and USB flash drives. In addition, each school
qualified for a $2000 voucher for the purchase of technology
equipment.
