The new district web site is just about complete. The expected roll-out is April 21, 2008.
The new site has a very different look and feel. Some new features include:
- Over 200 rotating images of Unit 5 students and staff.
- Personalized dynamic Calendar of Events page display.
- RSS Feeds for news and updates.
- Improved Site map.
- Upgraded search engine.
- Better organization of sections, subjects, and
documents.
- More colorful!
Please be patient during the transition. There may be pages
and section that are unavailable for short periods of time. Some
pages may change appearance immediately. The new search
engine and site map will take a few days to properly index the
site.
The transition should be complete by the end of the week.
April 16th UPDATE
Message to all Unit 5 staff who maintain a web site on
www.unit5.org
In preparation of the new website roll-out on Monday, April
21st, updates and changes are being performed on the web server.
As these processes take place, editing and updating webpages
using Front Page will be slow at times. You may even get a
time-out or error message when trying to open your web site or
saving a page.
In most cases, this interruption is only temporary. Most process
last less than fifteen minutes. If you do encounter a delay or
error, try to save the page a few minutes later. If it still is
any issue after that time, save the page locally (on your H
drive), log off and then publish the page at a later time. These
delays should be complete no later than Wednesday, the 23rd.
After Wednesday when all the changes are complete, please check
the links and images on your web site to makes sure all are
working properly. While your web site is not undergoing any
changes, links to any Unit 5 documents, pages, or graphics from
www.unit5.org likely have changed URLs. Changed links will
display a 404 error and graphics will display a red X.
