Story of State  

 

1634- This was when the first white-man, a French explorer, became the first to set foot in the area. He found it looking for a water route to China.

1740- French win battles against the Fox Indians.

1832- Black Hawk War is fought and Black Hawk and his tribe surrender in Wisconsin.

May 29, 1848- Wisconsin becomes the 30th state to join the Union.

Oct. 8 1871-Peshtigo forest fire occurred killing 1,200 people. it was on the same night of the Chicago Fire
