Reading

15 minutes of reading each evening is the standard we have set for our Book-It program.  Children learn to read by practicing.  Your consistency in this area assures your child will become an avid reader.

A free personal pan pizza coupon will be given to your child as he/she returns the monthly slips.

Harcourt practice

Writing

Third grade focuses on expository writing. We write math and reading responses with that as a focus as well.  We will use graphic organizers, color coding and a variety of other techniques to help your child be successful.

Letter writing is also a focus and accountability in grammar, spelling, and mechanics is foremost in our daily writing.

   Jeannie's Web Page

My Favorite author is Jeannie St. John Taylor.  Not only are her books beautifully illustrated with wonderful messages but she is also my big sister.  Jeannie lives across the country in Portland, Oregon but love to write kids in my class on e-mail throughout the year!  She plans to visit us in October!  I hope you can all meet her then!

This is the "real" Erik featured in Mrs. Taylor's books.
