Abraham Lincoln Illinois
High School Book Award

Normal Community West High School participates in the statewide reading program for high school students - Abraham Lincoln Illinois High School Book Award. Each year twenty-two books get nominated for this award. If a student reads four or more of the titles, he or she gets to vote for their favorite book. Not sure which book to read first?? Check out these recommendations from West students...

House of the Scorpion
"Lots of action, never a dull moment. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. A real page turner. I couldn't put it down."

Yossel
"
Not for the lighthearted, but still a good book. This graphic novel keeps you tied in with great visuals so you feel like you are in the story."

To vote in the statewide program, you need to read or listen to at least 4 books from the list. A voting party will be held toward the end of February for students eligible to vote. If you are interested in participating, please see Miss Rehn in the library.
